AI Technology and AI Data Centres - the risks

AI seems unavoidable as the next stage of technological revolution. Like fire, knives or vehicles, it can be used for great good, and assisting humanity, reducing time-consuming work and drudgery, and even provide great entertainment and education - or, in the wrong hands, it could also be used as a highly dangerous weapon. On this sinister note, are AI data centres turning the planet into a giant battery, on the road to connecting us into a centrally controlled digital power grid, over which we will have no say whatsoever?

Here we attempt to weigh up the real risks of what AI will mean in terms of benefits, against the unimaginable harm it could bring to humanity, the environment, and ultimately, biological life itself.
